      8. I wanted to put a building I had in that empty lot across from Central Park, which I did. It was a smaller building, so I bulldozed the original lot to put a smaller lot. Then yesterday, I saw you had made a building for the same lot(Astor On The Park) and now I'm trying to place that lot and it wont let me. I tried using the exact same size lot as the original lot and building. It keeps telling me that it is unroutable. Is there a cheat that I can use to force the lot so I can use your building instead of mine? Your's looks better. Thanks

      9. No, I don't know why the town editor is so glitchy like that but I don't know of any way to place a lot once it says that. Other than in CAW, of course. Sorry, that really sucks

        1. Oh well. That's too bad. I guess I'll have to do without Astor On The Park for now. Maybe I'll find another place for it. Thanks for the reply. Love your work. Great job! Keep up the great work!

      10. I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but every time the ice cream trucks comes all I see is a small white box in the road. I didn't even know it was the ice cream truck until I clicked on it. Is there a way I can actually see the ice cream truck and not a white box? Also, I'm in the process of trying to populate NYC, but I noticed that it keeps adding vampires to my empty lots. I don't know why it only adds vampires and not normal sims. Is there anything I can do to stop the vampires from being added to my empty houses? I don't want NYC to be full of vampires. I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR NYC, by the way. I can't wait to see what other new lots you add so I can add them to mine. Really looking forward to your Seasons version of NYC.

        1. I don't even have Generations to know about the ice cream truck. I'll ask on the forums and see if I can do anything about it. Twallan (NRAAS) has a traffic mod that will probably fix whatever glitch you're experiencing.

Twallan's Story Progression mod can prevent vampires.

          Delete
        2. Maybe that's the problem. I have Generations and you don't. I hope there's something that you can do. It would make NYC so realistic to have ice cream trucks driving around. About that Twallan's Story Progression mod, will it completely get rid of vampires(even in other worlds/towns)? I don't want to completely get rid of them. I just don't want to see only vampires running around in NYC. I don't mind a few here and there, but not everywhere. It's kind of like that celebrity problem, where everyone is a celebrity and no one is an average Joe or Jane. Thanks for your help. I'll keep checking back to see if you were able to find a solution to this problem.

        3. You can actually pick the percentage of your population that will be vampiric. I usually choose about 15-20%.

        4. I should also tell you that they're a little confusing at first but once you get used to them, they're tough to play without. He's also very helpful if you run into any problems

        5. Yes, I'm familiar with him. Not to long ago, I decided to take the plunge and try a few of his mods. I have the Careers and Traveler mod. You are so right. I can't imagine playing without them. The game is much more fun now. I've always been debating about the Story Progression, because I thought it was a core mod. So I started with something small to try it out. After I read your reply, I looked it over again to see exactly what it does. It is definitely something I would like to have, but it is a little confusing. Are you still looking for a solution to my ice cream truck problem? Or have you already answered my question? Which mod of Twallan's do you recommend will fix this? I was looking at the Traffic mod, but I don't think that is what I need in this case. I guess I'll have to give it a try. It's the closest mod that may fix my problem. Thanks for the vampire advice. I'll use the same percentage and try it out. By the way, when's the next new lot coming out? I can't wait to see it and add it to my game? Looking forward to the next one.

        6. I don't have an answer yet to the ice cream truck problem but I would think Traffic would fix it, it fixes the food truck issue.

I've been in CAW lately fixing up the Coney Island area to make it look like an actual boardwalk (now that beaches will be functional) and the industrial area on the NJ side.So I haven't been working on too many lots. I do have a park for Staten Island that I'll pry release later but I don't have anymore built at the moment.

          Delete
        7. I took your advice and downloaded the Traffic mod yesterday, but I still see the white box in the road. I've been looking at the settings, but there isn't anything that relates to my situation. I'll keep looking at the different settings. Or maybe it takes a little time for the game to recognize the new mod(I always hear about things needing to spawn first before they show up). I'll let you know how it goes. About fixing up Coney Island, NJ and Staten Island, that's great! I'm looking forward to that more than the new lots. I LOVE YOUR NYC! It's the best world out there for The Sims by far. NYC is a real world with tons of realism. It's already a great city and you just keep making it better and more realistic with each update. Can't wait to see winter in Central Park and going swimming at Coney Island Beach. I hope I don't go crazy from excitement first from waiting so long.

        8. How about turning on testing cheats and ctrl+shift click on the box. An option should come up to delete it. Then, if you click on city hall, an NRAAS option should show up. Click on the Traffic option and the ice cream truck options should be in there (how many are in the world, how they'll function, etc).

Thanks. I also want to expand towards the airport a bit more, take care of some lazy sculpting, see what I can do with the Hamptons area, and then of course build some new lots for the EP and update others.

        9. That's Fantastic! I can NOT wait to see the new updates. It's going to be awesome, I'm sure. I just wanted to tell you the great news. After about an hour of playing after I downloaded the Traffic mod, I was playing and to my amazement, an ice cream truck went by my sim's house. I then immediately checked the lot where the white box in the road had been sitting(or stuck) and it wasn't there. No more white box in the road. Yipee!! Now I can see the ice cream truck like I should be seeing it. I love this mod so much. I noticed a few other changes too(one being with the food truck). Thank you soooo much for recommending the Traffic mod to me. I didn't want to tell you the great news until I fully played with it for a few hours(in case it was only a temporary fix). I've been playing all day with this mod and I can still see the ice cream truck all over town. Looks like it's a permenant fix. I have to try the Story Progression mod next. I love Twallan's mods. They make the game much better and more fun to play. Thanks again for all your help with helping me find a solution to my ice cream truck problem. I will be checking regularly for your new updates(no pressure lol). Looking forward to seeing them. I can't wait!!!

        10. Glad you got the ice-cream truck sorted. Story Progression makes the game so much better, I can't even imagine how I used to play without it.

New York is moving along at a moderate pace. I'm still brainstorming on how I can make coney island look like an amusement park atmosphere in CAW (outside of the lots). And I'll have to wait for certain things to be unlocked by modders to make a few new shops. But I'm near done with the NJ industrial area

        11. I was wondering since you mentioned it in your last post and I hope you don't mind if it's not a troubleshooting problem. I am in the middle of moving in sims to your NYC(it's taking a while because there are soooo many great lots to choose from). I see you are making a lot of updates and changes. Like you mentioned, you will be uploading them as you finish them for anyone that wants them. I am one of those that will definitely want them as they become available. My question is, with all your new lots, are we going to be able to just bulldoze the originals and replace it with the new verions(like The Cosmopolitan)? I'm asking this because it seems like you said that you're also making changes to the landscapes(Coney Island Boardwalk, NJ industrial area, The Hamptons, etc.). You also said that when everyhing is complete, you will upload a new version of NYC(For Seasons). What I want to know is should I keep adding your new lots to my game as you finish and upload them? Or should I stop adding the lots and just wait for you to completely finish with all your changes and updates? Is it going to look completely different? I don't want to waste all my time moving in my sims to this release(which I love so much), only to find out the the newer version will be even better. Do you recommend that I stop moving in more sims and just play with the ones that I have for now and wait for you to finish making all your updates and changes? Basically,I just want to know, if I add all the lots as you upload them, in the end when you are completely finished and satisfied with how everything looks and it will be the final verion(or release), will my version look exactly like yours or will it be completely different(visually)?

        12. I am building lots on the once blank areas and re-building lots I am unhappy with. These you will be able to simply place on the map you currently have. At the same time, I am making changes to the map in CAW. Mostly in the areas I feel I was too lazy with. Much of Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan will remain unchanged though, with a few exceptions. These updates won't be available until after Seasons is released in November.

So, considering it will be another 3-4 months until I release the updated version, I would say that's plenty of time to have fun with the current version, but it's up to you.

        13. Wow. You work fast. I wasn't expecting all these great new lots so soon. You must have been reading my mind when I saw the Washington Heights Projects. I always wished that you had included some kind of projects for our low income sims. You can't have NYC without projects. It adds such a realness to it now. I feel like it is complete(for me, not for you I'm sure).I figured you would be working on that empty lot next. Thanks for making my wish come true. Love the new Tenafly Nature Center. Now my sims can go camping. This city is really coming along. It just gets better and better with each update. Anyway, I was looking at the other sections of comments and I didn't see a section for making suggestions. It's not really a suggestion, but a comment on what I noticed that I think would be helpful to everyone. You may be already aware of this issue, but just in case since you are updating things, I figured I'd tell you so you can look into it. As I'm playing and when my sims take the subway and the pie menu comes up to select what station you want to go, I noticed that a lot of them say "Subway Station". Some of the stations don't have names. Which makes it very confusing because you don't know which one to choose or where you'll end up if you select one of them. You could end up clear across town, miles away from where you were trying to go. I tried to invest in a couple of subway stations, so I could change the names myself. I see that subways can't be brought(invested). So, that is why I writing to you. I think this is something that only you, the creator can fix. I think this would be greatly appreciated by all the players and would make using the subways more fun. I hope you don't mind that I put this post here, I didn't see any other appropriate place to bring this to your attention.

      11. Thanks, this is actually my 3rd or 4th attempt at building apartment projects. Finally didn't screw up the shape. I'd like to place one in the bronx as well but we'll see.

I think I might have to re-do the subways entirely but yes I'll remember to name them. Do they work properly for you? Do your sims ever get stuck in one or exit the same one they've entered?

        ReplyDelete
      12. For the most part, they work properly, except for a few I remember having a small problem with(I haven't used every single one yet). I don't remember ever getting stuck in one, but I could be wrong. Not too long ago, I remember having a problem with a sim when she would enter the subway station and then she would come right back out. It was like she was scared to go inside. I keep having her enter again and again, but each time she would come right back out. After about the fifth try, she finally stayed inside and exited another station. I don't know what happened or what I did differently to finally get her to stay inside and reach her destination. Maybe it was some kind of glitch or something that corrected itself. At the time, I thought it may of had to do with the time of day. It was really late(or early) in the morning, but that shouldn't matter(subways are not like bars that close at a certain time). There was also another issue that I noticed, that didn't really have to do with a subway, but a subway station was near by, so it kind of became part of the problem(but not directly). Since I was having the issue that I mentioned above, I really haven't been using the subways(even though I'd love to use them more like before). I want to give you exact names and locations, so I can tell you exactly where I noticed the propblems were. So, I'll play more using the subways and I'll get back to you with more detailed information. That way, I can pinpoint the stations that I am having problems with. I'll try to do what I was doing before when I noticed this issue. I'll also play normally going around town by subway and see if I come across any other problems. Please don't change the subways too much, I think they are perfect the way they are, especially the underground ones. You are truly a genius. I never would of imagined that that could be done. They just have a few bugs that need to be worked out here and there.

        1. Hi, sorry I took so long to get back to you. I haven't been playing as much as I'd like to. Then, when I finally had the time to play like I used to, I keep having one problem after another on my computer. Each problem took hours or days to fix. So, I haven't had time to check those subway stations I was telling you about. I found a few, but I can't find my notes. I just finished literally an hour ago fixing a freezing problem that I was having with my game. I didn't want to but I had to uninstall and reinstall all my games as my very last resort. I was determend to get my game up and running for Seasons(just made it with just 24 hours to go). I just have to put back your New York City and all my CC and Mods.Pray for me that everything works out. Anyway, how's it going with the updates? I've been checking everyday to see if you made any more lots, but there aren't any. Are you uploading them somewhere else? I don't want to miss not a single one of your lots. I hope you didn't forget about us. I guess you've been REALY busy, updating for Seasons. That's why I was determined to fix my problem before Seasons came out and your New York City was my motivation. I can't believe it's FINALLY here. New York in the winter time. My dream has come true. I can't wait to see your updates. I'll still give you a list of my findings regarding the subways, but you probably fixed them all by now. Don't forget about us. I'll be looking out for your updates(no pressure lol).

        2. Hope everything goes well with your game. I haven't made any new lots yet. 4. Sorry, I took so long to get this info for you. I've been checking out all the new features from Seasons. Your New York City is so beautiful in the winter(I couldn't wait to send my sim to Central Park and make snow angels). It looked so realistic that it was actually scary to watch him(but I still enjoyed it). I finally got my wish, New York in the winter time. Anyway, here is what I gathered so far. Some are simple fixes that either you can fix in the update or the player can fix on their own(like I did), but I just thought I'd point it out to you anyway since I noticed it. Here is my list so far:
1)When I go to the gym from Map View, sim goes downstairs into the train station instead of straight to the gym(I have to either watch him on his way there or make him come all the way back up the stairs and then go to the gym).
2)When I go to Starbucks, sim goes to the gem store(on the right end of lot) instead and then walks right through the display case. Again, I have to watch him on his way there before he enters the gem store.
3)In McMahon's Alehouse there's no sink and mirror in woman's room. My solution, removed one stall to put missing objects. In men's room, men cannot wash their hands because the stall is in the way(bathroom is too small). My solution, again removed one stall and moved sink and mirror in it's place.
4)Can't get on train at City Hall Staion(even if you click "Travel Here" from Map View). You can get off there with no problem.
5)Sims go through back doors(for NRCs),instead of front doors on community lots. Sims always end up behind the register, instead of infront of it.
6)Sim is stuck inside building(w/ stain glass doors) next to apartment above laundromat(in NJ). I reset sim, but he keeps going back in(also tried locking doors and allowing "sim only" and still did not keep other sim out of hidden room).

          Delete
        5. 7)Sim cannot go upstairs in art building(Downtown Bronx). He goes up the stairs and when he reaches the top, he turns around and goes back down. My solution, I took out stairs and put in an elevator).
8)3 sims stuck in hidden room on 1st floor on top of stairs(side next to deco building) of 391 125th St lot. I use the latest version of Overwatch, but can't tell if it's working for this particular issue or if they keep coming back after Overwatch removes them.
9)In The Emerald Room, there's no men's room(no toilet and sink, like in the woman's room). Just an empty room. My solution, added a toilet and sink to match woman's room.
10)Sim was in Bronx Park and when I tried to send him home, he lives in the Bronx(in the two small stone duplexes lot), he kept trying to take the subway(I guess it was too far to walk home). For some reason, he wouldn't even take a cab(I've seen sims take cabs for 2 blocks). He couldn't take the train because there's only one station in the Bronx, so he had no where to go(I figured out that was probably the problem). There should be another station to get around different parts of the Bronx that are far apart from each other. So sims at one end of the Bronx can take the train to get to the other end.
I always thought another station outside the stadium was a great idea(for sports career sims). My solution was, that I had to make my sim "Go Here" block(s) by block(s) until he FINALLY made it home. I was probably as exhausted as he was by the time he got home(lol).
That's all I found so far(I'll let you know what else I might find). After alot of play testing, I realized that the subway problem(I mentioned to you months before) may not have been a problem at all. This is in addition to the subway stations that need names(that's a different issue). Or maybe I just found a way around it. Only a couple so far are actaully real problems that need your attention and a solution, if possible. I can't tell, but either way, so far it works for me. My solution for the subway issue, I click on the subway that I want my sim to get off and select "Travel Here". I was just used to clicking "Go Home" on the little arrow by the sim's portrait and he would automatically go home(I never had a problem) when playing other worlds. Then I realized, this is not just another world, it's a huge city with 5 boroughs. It's not that easy to click "Go Home". There are so many options to choose from, that's what I discovered. That my sims needed help in getting around this enormous city. The other worlds I've played were only 1/2 the size of this and no where near having this many options to choose from(that's probably why I never had a problem because there was only one way to get home). lol. Hope this info helps you with your updates.

        6. As I was rereading my reply to you, I noticed that whenever I use the words "he" or "him", for some reason it gets changed to "I". Also, words get capitalized that I didn't make capital. Or words are added to my sentences that I didn't put there. I'm just letting you know because when I was rereading it, I couldn't even understand what I wrote. I knew I did not type it that way. Then I noticed that if you highlight a sentence or paragragh you can see the original text(exactly the way I wrote it) on the right side of text in a white box. Just letting you know in case you have no idea what I'm saying. You can highlight the sentances to clear things up. Plus, I didn't want you to think that I dropped out of school and didn't know how to type. lol

        7. Much appreciated Anon, quite the comprehensive error report :) I'll be sure to make a note of all of these things so that I can fix what I can. Should you find anything else, do not hesitate, even if you think it's trivial. The underground subways will probably have to be done away with entirely, they never did work properly. And the bathrooms are something I always forget about, not quite sure why. I did have a few questions though, what building do we speak of in NJ? Is it on the lot with the cheap apartment/laundromat, or is it a lot nearby? Also, are sims getting stuck behind the register areas or that's just where they initially go?

Your writing is perfectly fine and readily understandable by the way, so no worries. Are you viewing the page through a translator by any chance? Google changes my words around when using the translator.

Again, thank you for testing and taking notes. It really does help me because most of my time playing is spent in CAW or building stuff. Having someone take time out to let me know what is going wrong when the clock actually starts moving, is a huge help.

        8. Your welcome. No problem. Glad to help out in making this wonderful city even more wonderful. I'm so sad to hear that you will probably do away with the underground subways entirely. That was always one of my favorite features(so original and genius). They really added a touch of reality to the city. They never really bothered me, especially since I figured out a way to get around the little issues. I still found them useful to get around. Will you be replacing them with EA's outside subways? Or will there be nothing in it's place? Or something else in it's place? Just wondering. I would really hate to see them gone, but you have to do what's best for you. It's your city. Regarding the lot in NJ, it's on the same lot as the apartment on top of the laundromat, but the problem is with the building right next door(w/ the stained glass doors and the mailbox outside). Not the one with the garage. I just checked now and there's a sim standing there in the dark. lol It's the building in the middle that's the problem with sims getting stuck in the hidden room. The cheap apartment/laundromat is working fine. Regarding the registers, sims don't get stuck, they are fine(if they want to work there). lol They just INITIALLY go through the back door and stand behind the register (or really the counter), instead of going through the front door like a customer. You have to redirect them to go through the front door. From my observations, they will not go through the front door unless you direct them to. For some reason, they prefer going through the back. Oh, that's what it is. I do have Google with a translator. Mystery solved(I've noticed that a few times, but I thought it was me and a typo). I wont worry about it anymore, since I know that you can understand what I'm typing. No problem. I'll keep playing, testing and keeping a look out for any issues. I will keep you up to date on what ever I find(no matter how trivial).

        9. Here are some more things I found. The first three I forgot to tell you about because I noticed them when you just released the final version. I looked at the lots again and I'm pretty positive that I made those changes(they weren't like that originally). The others I noticed yesterday.
11)In Queensbridge Recording Studios, there's no sink(and mirror, if you ment to include one) in the bathroom. My solution, removed one stall and put a sink in it's place.
12)Tall White Building in the Bronx(next to Tattoo Parlor), sim cannot go upstairs. They go up to the top of the stairs and turn right back around and go back downstairs. My solution, took out stairs and put in an elevator.
13)In Fort McLaughlin(Army Base), sim can't use showers in both men's and women's room(gym outside of base). My solution, had to turn around all showers so sims can open the doors. Rotate showers so shower heads and tiles face doors. Have to do that for all showers.
14)In Bullseyes, there's no sink in the bathroom. My solution, had to remove one stall and put a sink in it's place.
15)In SI Plaza, in the office(of motel) on ground floor, there is an office behind the front desk. There's no way to get to the office. Office has a door, but you can't get to it because of the wall behind front desk. My solution, added a door to wall behind front desk.
That's my latest findings so far. Like I said, the first three I did from memory, but I am certain that's what I had to do at the time. I didn't want to load a new game to compair. I'll keep you updated on what else I come across.

        10. Awesome, thanks. I'll probably just do that Bronx lot all over again. And the military rabbithole has since been deleted. Everything else seems an easy fix.

      14. I'm still experiencing the subway...glitch? Where my sims would try to travel to some place using subway, they'll try to enter the station and then appear right back up at the entrace of the same station they went in. I've read some of your comments but there still isn't any conclusive solution to it, if I didn't miss anything. Help?

      15. I have all the required expansions but I'm unable to load the world without it crashing. Is this because I have University Life installed as well?

      16. Hello,
I'm trying to install the .sims3pack for NYC (already installed the CC for it) but every time the launcher tries to install it, it says "failed". Any help would be great.

      17. I play via Steam which automatically updates TS3. I think using Steam may be the issue here, do you know of others having success with your world via Steam? I've tried manually adding the files to /downloads as well as stopping auto updates through Steam, I've troubleshooted it all as much as I can. :( Any help would be great.
