I wanted to thank Sandy from ATS because so much of her cc is used throughout the world. As well as TJ Streak who made so many of the deco buildings that you'll see while playing. Deletethe you tube video on your site has been removed so i was unable to follow step 1 so had to try and find another video.
ReplyDeletei have added the resource.cfg file to the mods folder and all the cc to the packages folder. when i load the game launcher, it shows all the cc and the new york world under the worlds tab (even though the name says new york second beta), but when i launch the game, ny dosent show up for me to choose.
If you had any previous versions of this world, you need to uninstall them, clear your caches, and then install the new one.

Deletemy installation of the sims is a clean install so i dont have any old versions of the sims worlds. the cc has worked because it tells me the the intro and sprakles package file has been found, but still the word wont show up.

Yes there is. Google Twallan's Story Progression mod. There is a feature called 'rapid immigration' that fills up the town in a few sim-days. It's also a really fun mod all it's own

-The lots are finished (except for 4-5 blank lots), NJ/Harlem/Downtown Brooklyn is now completed, spawners have been placed, food trucks have been placed, several more lots, minor changes to terrain painting and deco placement, fixed places where sims were getting stuck

ReplyDeleteDid you try the stuff in the post I linked to? Also try lowering your graphics standards. Reflections, draw distance, and the number of high detail lots rendered can make a big difference

ReplyDeleteMy specs are a 2.1 ghz dual-core processor and 3gb of RAM. I can play this world decently but my specs are pretty mediocre. I also run Twallan's SP mod which slows down the game some.

Hi! I'm now playing your neighbourhood, but unfortunately I have to give this feedback, the world has still bugs :( There are also few free lots :( One bug is, the U-Station at Brandon Park (I guess, don't know it exactly). My sims can't use the Underground to the other part of NY :( My Sim works as a police officer and she have to get to the otherside, but she can't. Now she's almost get fired out of the job. Also another strange bug is, if the work time for my Sims has come, they automatically teleport them to their workplace? o.O Sometimes they use bikes, even if they don't have bikes. I'm going to keep you up with the bugs, but I really enjoy this :) Thanks again and have a nice day! Greetings from TURKEY! ;)

ReplyDeleteWhen I found out about this world the other night, I couldn't wait to download it. I absolutely love all the details put into it. You all deserve a round of applause! Unfortunately, I can't use it. Every time I try to move a family in (I've tried several different families on several different lots), the game crashes. I downloaded all of the recommended boosters and aids to help the game run smoother but nothing seems to help. I'll keep checking in to see if any new solutions are recommended, but I just wanted to salute you guys for the beautiful efforts.

ReplyDeleteNothing is wrong with your map. I'd released it like that and built several lots after the fact. I'd uploaded them for everyone but then a false copyright claim was made and they got taken down. Meanwhile I inserted them into a new version that will be updated w/Seasons. I have been too lazy to re-upload them (stopped playing sims 3 for awhile to be honest) but I will so that those without Seasons can still have them.

DeleteAll of the lots will not be in the downloaded world until I update it for Seasons. You could though, download the caw files, and then place the lots in CAW and save it anew. Then just export it and all of them will be in there.

The good news is, no mods are necessary for the world to work. There are a few that will enhance gameplay in the world (mentioned/linked above) but the world will still fully function without them.
DeleteThe world and the buildings and all that, come in .rar files. Winrar and 7zip are software programs that simply allow you to unpack the .rar files so that they can be installed in the Sims. These programs are well-known, safe, and will absolutely not harm your computer.
While the world does not require mods, it does have custom content that must be installed in much the same fashion. These are nothing more than decorative buildings, bridges, misc items to make the city feel much more like a city. Again, these pose no threat to your PC. To install these properly, please see this post:

I've had this error once but I just gave up on the world it was in, so I can't really be of too much help. Also, I don't have the 4th beta uploaded anywhere any longer, sorry.
If you launch another version can do the former site of the World Trade Center? Only the location (the land without the buildings and the two towers).

ReplyDeleteFound one bug for me. My sim kids never go to school to the closest school building. For some reason they allways choose one that is on the other end of the city. Any idea what the reason could be for this?
I like the concept with the deco buildings. This way the impression of a big city can be simulated without having too many lots in the wolrd. Did you make them yourself? Can I find a tutorial somewhere? I am planning to build an Australia themed world in spring and it would be great to add some typical deco buidlings :)
If you live in downtown Manhattan, I think the game considers the Staten Island school closer.

I think it's great you've done this but I'm having trouble downloading it. I clicked the download link above, and it took me to a page with multiple other programs to download. Ended up installing free programs I didn't even want and still could not download New York. Exactly how are we supposed to do it?

DeleteI couldn't get to install the world. I've just install the game and the EPs. I downloaded the world, but i'm really confused, i don't know where to put these files. I saved them in mods/packages and downloads both, but its no use.
ReplyDeleteDownload the world and double click on it. The launcher will open and begin installing it. The custom content goes in the packages folder.

ReplyDeletethe Lots and Layers folders should be in one folder titled New York Resaved. That folder goes in the same location as the .world file and the settings file (Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 3 CAW tool/User Tool Data/Worlds)
DeleteBy the way, Twallan's Story Progression mod has a function that allows for rapid immigration. You can have 100 sims (or however many of your choosing) in a few sim days.
Hi Daniel. Just stopping by to ask a few questions. Well, first off, I love you're world you created. Very realistic and so lively! Okay so I have LN and it's updated to 6.5.1 and my base game is 1.42 and i downloaded Seasons at first (stupid choice I know), but I thought that it would work. It didn't :(. it cut off to my desktop after I tried making a new game. Then I uninstalled that one and tried downloading the non-seasons update and I got the same results. Then I took out all corrupted files. Is there anything that I did was wrong? What should I do? Thank you for reading! Sorry for the long paragraph! :)
ReplyDeleteDo you have Ambitions and World Adventures as well? The world requires all three EP's. Also, you might want to try patching up to 1.48, that is the version the world was exported on.
DeleteThe last thing I would suggest is clearing all the caches before installing the non-seasons version (though it sounds like you might've already done this).
Oh. That's probably why. I don't have those two. And I'll update my game, but I'm guessing without the two expansions, I won't be able to play this world. :/ and thank you for your help! Again, I love this world! :)

If you had a previous version of the world installed, you'll have to uninstall it and clear the cache files before installing the new version:

Hey i have all the expansions needed and i installed correctly and even deleted base sims 3 folder so it can refresh. when i load up new york seasons, no lots appears. it just black sqaures across the neighborhood, yes i installed the custom content correctly, and my sims are unable to move in any lots. now in the late night version all lots appear, but when i move the camera towards alot of custom content, the game freezes up and the music keeps playing, im on a mac and meet the requirements to play the game, and this does not happen in any other neighborhood.

Hi - great city and well done. But can you upload updated CAW files ? I live in NYC and really would like to put my appartment into this virtual one so my sims'd live in the same place :) The city from attached CAWs is not completed - no coney island, battery park not finished, some bridges are missing etc. Can you do this ? ReplyDeleteThe reason I had done it this way is so that those without Seasons could still open up the world and do whatever. What you can do is save those lots to bin and place them in CAW when you update with the lots you plan to add. There shouldn't be any bridges missing. Any custom bridges in the world is already included in the CC files that come with the world. Be sure that those are properly installed in your CAW folder

Didn't know that you can and basically have to install custom content into CAW - I thought that only the game itself accepts customs and that you put all those decorations in "edit in game" mode, but in CAW they look like a box of nothing with an element ID/code assigned. But after reading your message I quickly googled how to and here we go ... worked as a charm :) Well, most of it to be honest - Washington bridge is still missing (there is like connection between roads, the green line, but I don't see the bridge like in the game after installing your sims3.pack). Also, the one on Turnpike is missing too (same story with those green lines), but I will try to figure out how to put them in the game and think that it'll be fine - pity there isn't any copy/paste tool in CAW...

DeleteThe 'backup 2-8-2013' archive are the files for Create-A world. They are not necessary to play the world and don't need to be installed in the Sims 3 game folders.
To install them in your CAW folder, follow this directory:
Documents/Electronic Arts/ The Sims 3 Create A World Tool/User Tool Data/ Worlds
