    I'm new to the clothing mod but I do understand it, but I can't find any stores in the world to shop for them. Is there stores in the world to shop for clothes? Or, if that's not the way to shop for them, please let me know how with the mod installed.

      There are lots set up as clothes stores in the world. But there is no lot designation as such. There is one in Brooklyn, one in the Bronx, and one in Staten Island. Once you find one, simply click on the clothes racks and the options should show up :)

      Oh, you may have to save once before they start working. I think it's done that to me before as well.

    I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this, but whenever I try and play in this world, the game force quits and gives me a window that says "Exception Raised: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0xdc5f8000 ad address 0x00d1c87f." It only happens when I play in this world. I'm on a macbook pro, with 4 gigabytes of RAM, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

      Could you try installing it on a fresh 'Sims 3' folder (found in 'My Documents'). Simply remove your current 'sims 3' folder to the desktop and launch your game. Your PC will generate a new folder, try to install NY in this folder. Let me know if you're still encountering problems.

      I plan on putting up a save file in a few days so maybe that will help you out

      Yeah, I googled the error you said you got and nothing comes up. You might want to post about that on ModTheSims or somewhere else where maybe someone has encountered that before.

    I installed the world, but then I play the game it's not there. I then look in the launcher and it says I haven't installed it. It's please help me.

      If you've had previous versions of S3NY ,please uninstall all of them and clear your caches (google it). Failing this, try to install it on a fresh 'sims 3 folder'(found in 'My Documents'). Simply remove your current 'sims 3' folder to the desktop and launch your game. Your PC will generate a new folder, try to install NY in this folder. Another anon is also having an issue, so let me know how this works out for you.

      still says i should update my game.. i put the 'the sims 3' folder to my desktop so they were none in the 'Electronic Arts' folder. then i started the launcher and double clicked the NYC-Beta file but it says i should update my game. i try to update my game now to 1.27 ...

    I keep getting save error 12 randomly when saving. Sometimes I have no issues but sometimes I get the error. Any suggestions? Thanks :-)

      What I've done to fix errors like that before is to shutdown unnecessary background programs (Such as firewall, and anti-virus programs...I also kill my internet feed temporarily) and download a freeware program called Game Booster. It shuts down other unneeded background programs.

      Another suggestion (I don't know if it'll help you with save errors but it might make your game run smoother, if you're having issues with that) is to get a frame limiter.

      Ok, I've worked all weekend on this. Getting save 12 errors and then the game crashing (Sims 3 has stopped working....) and searched google for all kinds of suggestions. Nothing worked. I also used your suggestions. I even re-installed the game and all expansions with the same results. For a test, I uninstalled 4th beta and went back to 3rd beta and so far, everything is working great. So, if I stick with the 3rd beta, exactly what am I missing by not being able to play the 4th? Generally speaking, lots? decor?

      Generally lots, I think there might be new decos, but to be honest, it's all become a blur from one beta to the next. I'm sorry you were experiencing so many issues. Perhaps, on a fresh new 'Sims 3' folder (where your saves and mods are) you can try installing the 4th beta and see if it works for you with no history of error 12 issues. Worst case scenario, you just have to delete the folder

      Ok, I'll be good until the final release or next beta, hopefully it'll work for me. Yeah, I've done brand new install (even used the revo uninstaller that takes all registry entries out) and with that new install, allowed it to make a brand new folder in my docs in addition to removing my other mods. The only other thing I know to try is a clean install of my os and I'm not going that far, lol. Maybe I missed something along the way with the world install and cc. I'll be trying it again when I'm not so anxious to play the world. Thanks so much for your help. Still very much enjoying the 3rd beta :-)

    Hi! I tried downloading this (im using a macbook pro btw) and when i try to convert the rar into a zip it gives me an error saying that it cannot be converted because the file is incomplete or corrupt??
    please could you help me understand why it is giving me this message!! I really would love to play in this world!!!

    I downloaded this world yesterday and i was amazed how perfect it was! even a starbucks, really?!?!finally, a world i like!!! but it's not playable for me... the games is laggy(even on low graphics/texture settings), it crashes every 15 minutes and i can't save anything because of error12... guess my computer can't handle such large worlds! i've tried alomost everything. :( really sad, because i really wanted my simmies to live in a lively, urban city...:(

      I have the exact same issue. Save 12 error, crashing, and bad lag, on low graphics. Try the 3rd beta download, it plays perfectly on mine. (Make sure you completely uninstall the 4th beta version.) Hope this helps :-)

      I'm so sorry you guys have been experiencing problems. I really want everybody to be able to run it. I don't know what would be causing these types of errors...maybe I put too many objects in the world.

      Along with the third anon's tip about LAA, google a freeware program called Gamebooster as well as an FPS Limiter. Both of these things will make the game run smoother. Again, sorry about the crashes and error notes.

    Step 1:
    Load fullbuild1 in s3pe. Make sure the sort checkbox is checked.
    (It's near the lower left corner of the s3pe program window)

    Click on the [NAME] field to sort by name, then look up the
    sims3_* _aud and audt resources.

    For each song there is one audt and two _aud resources. Look at the
    memsize field and export the _aud resource with the larger memsize.
    Or check the type field. sns resources are type _AUD 0x01EEF63A,
    snr are _AUD 0x01A527DB. You want the .sns resource.


    step 2:
    drop the exported file on ealayer3.exe to create the .mp3
    file. Import this into audacity, then import the .mp3 you
    want to replace it with.

    Click the X in the upper left of the original soundtrack window to
    close the first .mp3, this leaves its filename in audacity's title bar.

    Now export the second mp3, overwriting the first. The default
    value of 44100 for the bitrate will do nicely. Unless you
    want it to sound like the chipmunks. In that case you
    would change it to 32000.

    step 3:
    rename the file you just exported to match the name of the
    original that was output from ealayer3.exe in the first part
    of step 2. If you dropped the export on the batch file I've
    suggested this is just a matter of deleting ".mp3" from the
    filename.

    step 4:
    open a second instance of s3pe and import the .sns file into
    a new package file, clicking the use resource name checkbox
    to put a checkmark in it.
    Make sure the imported .sns has the same name, type, group
    and instance as the music you are substituting for in the
    fullbuild1.package.
    note:
    If any of the fields are different right-click on the sns resource
    in the first instance of s3pe and select details. Copy the fields
    to the details window of the sns in the second instance of s3pe
    until they all match.

    step 5:
    Save your new package to the proper mods\packages folder on your
    machine naming it, for example, MyMusicMod.package. Your new
    music should play in place of the old the next time you start the
    sims 3.

      I am the one with the custom music for map mode. Unfortunately, Blogger ate up my other posts. Could you read them?

      This is only for map mod, if you travel round the city.
      You can use as many songs as there are in vanilla sims3, depending on the expansion packs you have installed.

      What are you having trouble with, the .rar file? Just download 'WinRar', install it and extract NY with it. It's really simple.

      The world comes with necessary CC that has to be packaged either as a .rar or .zip file so no matter where I upload it, you will have to unpack this file

    Hi Daniel I downloaded and setupped it but i don't see it like in the video, it appears without many buildings and need some bridges too. Maybe I didnt' setup correctly but i followed your istructions...tho...i will try to setup it again correctly.

    Documents, Electroci Arts,The Sims 3 and i created the folder Mods (in it i putted packages files)

    In your mods folder, create another folder called 'Packages'. This is where the files go. You also have the resource.cfg correctly placed, yes?

    Daniel, I love this! I have been playing for a few days now and it has revived my love for this game! Thanks. It runs well on my computer..I do meet the specs. I have a little lag but it is more likely due to my Twallan mods rather than to this world. My only complaint is that I needed to add more cheap apartments and found that there was no place to build them. The fake buildings had non-routing paint beneath them so I couldn't move them and place lots. I get why you did this though so not sure of the solution. More cheap apartments in the Bronx would be nice. :) Or you could release the CAW version so we could unpaint areas and rebuild.

    I am having an issue with a bathtub in your CC content package. Any chance you could give us a list of the CC so we can find it ourselves or the CC in non-merged format? It is the bathtub/shower combo from MTS. The rig has been fixed by the creator but it seems to not be correctly fixed in your merged file. Since I cannot remove a file from the merged package, I really can't use that tub at the moment. Another idea would be for you to re-download the tub and remerge the package with the fixed item.

    I did notice a few cosmetic issues such as textures missing (an apartment building in the Bronx is blue patterned) and a few floors where the tile in front of the door is the wrong color but these are minor.

    I doubt it..probably just a file missing from the CC file. I just used the cheat and repainted it..brick although not sure what you originally intended. It looks good though! :)

    Hey I was wondering if you could make a more detailed tutorial for us computer-dummies(me)?
    Because even though I read the instructions on MTS, I still haven't quite understood the whole thing. I'm using 7-Zip to unpack the files (because MTS suggested that), but I don't really know what to do with the downloaded NY file, do I extract it, if where? And isn't the world supposed in the "Worlds" folder
    I all ready have the mod/packages-thing working. It works a little, but not with the NY file.
    Btw, how do you stop the backgroundmusic on this page? :)

      Okay so one at a time; When you extract the file, it should already be in a folder but you can place a folder on your desktop to extract it to if that's easier for you. The world is a .sims3pack so once you've extracted it, just double click on it and it should install like any other piece of standard CC. The .package files go in your 'Packages' folder (found in Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/Mods/Packages)

      The music can be turned off at the very bottom of the page. Just hit the pause button (or sometimes hitting my space bar will auto-pause it, it's hit-and-miss though)

    Another rather serious bug...A townhouse apartment has a 1st floor that is empty and with hidden markers. But family members that live in the above useable apartment keep ending up in those rooms with the hidden markers and can't get out. Resetting didn't help since they reset inside those rooms. So I had to use cheats and knock out a section of the backwall. Even putting in doors didn't work as they could not pass through the doors. Not sure how to fix this one. Strange bug though.

    I also get the bridge bug a lot but I know you are aware of this problem.

      Next time I play, I will take a picture of it for you. I can tell you it is a townhouse apartment building with three apartments. Each apartment has two levels with a first floor that is not used and is dark. Stairs lead up to the second floor which is actually the first floor of the apartment. I am not super familiar with NYC so can't tell you the name without looking again and it is late here now.

      I will try to log in tomorrow but its my birthday!! and we are heading out of town for a few days. I will try though!

    Hi Daniel. Love the custom world. No serious undocumented issues so far (besides the Brooklyn Bridge, but I just search it everyday manually and use the ResetSim code to send stuck Sims home) I'm running on a older, 2008 Macbook Unibody, (Pre Aluminum Pros, 2.4 Ghz, 4GB of RAM, using Lion OSX) and it runs as smoothly as other versions of Sims 3 (meaning it runs hot on the computer; so nothing new)

    Just a few suggestions: Can you lower some prices on some lots and just check for price consistency? For example there's a tiny one-bedroom apartment on the UWS that sells for 169k, while a bigger apartment next to it only sells for 20k. It's not a big deal, but its kinda weird that such an expensive apartment (even for NYC) is next to a bigger, cheaper apartment.

    Also wanted to say THANKS!! And keep up to awesome work. Can't wait for Beta 5 and the final build!

      You'll be happy to know that the issue with the bridge is no more and beta 5 will hopefully be free of routing failures (though that is what the beta testing is all about). Yeah, the prices are a bit extreme and will absolutely be altered.

      I'm glad it runs well on your laptop. Make sure to elevate it while playing, it will help with the heat.

      It isn't. I don't think I've even started up the regular game since releasing this except to briefly test stuff I've changed in CAW

      Twallan's Story Progression has a fantastic 'Rapid Immigration' feature. You can have 100+ sims in your world in like a sim-week

    Great Work! as a life long New Yorker I can say this is the best FULL CITY rendition of NYC in the Sims 3, and I don't say that a lot as I'm very picky when it comes to depictions of the big apple, and what also makes this world great surprisingly is its compact non accuracy! (like the empire state building being next to Times Sq. something about it is so refreshing and cool) the fact that its all the greatness of the city and it has all of the important areas confined to the limit of the map, Bravo! Cheers to those who've worked hard on this world :D

    Can't wait for Beta 5!

      That's so great to hear from someone who actually lives there. Beta 5 is well under way with many, many improvements. Yes we could not have all of Manhattan, though I certainly wish otherwise. But it's either five boroughs or a full Manhattan...and there are plenty of others working on just Manhattan.

      Yeah definitely a good thing to go with all five boros! only thing that's plaguing me are CTD's and Error12, even with Gamebooster, Framelimit, Disconnected Internet connection and Firewall, I just can't figure out why V4 is doing that, been battling them and had to go back to Beta 3 so I'm hoping whatever is glitching it is discovered and cured in time for future betas!

      As far as I know, none of the CC that I included is broken. This is more likely a memory issue. Try out some (preferably all) of the suggestions in the link below.

    I was really excited before the fourth beta came out. Me and my cousin waited forever. :) But... I got really excited when i saw the pictures. When I tried playing with it, it caused and error and glitches in my game that can't be fixed. I've taken it to a computer shop and all. You wrecked my game. And I hate the world. I really do. I just dont understand why most of the buildings you made are just for decoration. Then, thanks for wrecking my perfect game.

    I love this world! It's sooo beautiful but I wish those houses weren't decorative. I removed them but I found out you couldn't place lots there. But overall this is a great world! Anonymous' review is a bit harsh, to be honest.
