Does the requirements above means I have to have those expansions in order for the New York City Beta to work....?
My issue is that I can't get it to work......When I Start a new game and wait for about a min on the loading screen, it sticks at less than a half and then crashes as it says " Sims 3 has stopped working "........... ????? can you help me.... plz?

Yes, you must have all 3 EP's listed above to play this city. Last time I checked, you could get away with not having Ambitions, but that was a beta ago and a lot has changed since then. Late Night and World Adventures are absolutely required.
Hey! I just want to thank you for the link. It's deeply appreciated!!! :) but how do I download it? I have all the expansion packs, to. I'll download the update afterwards. But could you thoroughly explain how to download the sims 3 New York Beta? (btw, I have windows vista..not Mac)
@Anon after clicking the link above and clicking the subsequent blue 'download now' button (on 4shared) you will be sent to another window where you will have to wait 90 seconds whereupon the download will automatically start, if not, click the download now button. It should save to your downloads folder in a .zip archive. To open this google one of 2 programs either titled 7zip or winrar and download the appropriate one for your OS. Once unpacked, simply double-click the .sims3pack and it should install to your launcher. I have made a post about installing the CC titled 'Installing New York Custom Content'
Unfortunately my computer can barely run LA, so I suspect it won't be able to run this, but I'll definitely try it out and download it when it's ready. Then just wait for the day I get a better computer.

I was planning to use this as a travel destination for my Sims in my real world, but in one post you said cities don't work well with Twallan's mod. I have not tried Twallan's mod yet, but I do hope he can fix the issues with cities, because this world would be perfect for travelling.
I've noticed the links to my mod, thank you for using them, hopefully one day we'll get a real shopping EP.
I think that problem has been fixed but I've never tried Traveler either. I made a base camp that can be found in one of the posts in the downloads section. If you do try it out, please let me know the results.

umm i have sum questions lol. Will the bridges and roads be fixed in the final version so the sims can get around? and howcome i can't place lots on the ground to put buildings and edit things? Will this be fixed? And your doing a fantastic job btw :). And will there be any celebrities (that grew up in NY and live there, for example lady gaga) recreated in this world if there are gonna be premade sims? Thanks
Yes the bridges and roads will be fixed. The reason much of the terrain cant be edited is so that sims don't just walk through the deco buildings along with a few other minor reasons. I hope to have a bit more 'routable terrain' so that the user can edit it as they wish, we'll see...
I didn't know that Lady GaGa grew up in NY. I'll see about getting her in. So far I have George Clooney, Leo DiCaprio, James Franco, Emma Stone, Jon Stewart, and Rosario Dawson. I have an Anne Hathaway but it's not as good as the others. Any other suggestions?
And the bridge issue is not as bad as I thought. Sims can get around but if you're gonna play, I would check the Brooklyn bridge occasionally. Either way though, a new FIXED beta should be out around Christmas.
Amazing world. I can't wait for the final version so i can populate the world. I love the list of the celebrities. My only wish was that some of those buildings could be livable. Thanks anyway.
hey, i thought i should let you know that the stairs in the art building in downtown bronx is gliched. my sim will go up to the middle of the stairs and the walk right back down to where he started. btw thanks for an awesome world!

And the lady gaga sim comes with a lot of CC. but if you download it, the hair and everything is included. and i'm sry but i'm not as talented as a lot of other ppl are when it comes to making homes, so no. but if it helps, in real life gaga lives in a high-end apartment in NY! i hope that help.

New York beta is absolutly perfect! You're doing a great job! I need to populate the world and start playing, if i have any issue i'll let you know. Never been in NY and i love NY so for the first time in my life i will create myself in sims just for living in NY :D

Maybe I ask stupid .. :) But what is CC? And gives it a virus? If I only have Late Night and World Adventures on my computer can I still run it on my computer? Or should I have all three expansion packs? Excuse the many questions but I want to be sure.

Anyways, 'CC' is custom content, it will give NO VIRUSES (I would never do that to anybody). In this world, the CC is mainly buildings to make the city feel full as well as a few items to help out the detail of the world. I should say, this world will not look right at all if you don't install the cc.
I don't know if you can play it without Ambitions. Try it, and if it crashes on the loading screen, that means you need all three expansion packs.

Have you made the town of Sims 3 Create a World? And have you been doing it alone or do you work together with someone?´:) I read the blog that you had spent a little over a year to make city. In each building or have you just gone down to the smallest detail? And how have you been all that cool stuff, so it looks like New York completely? :D
It was made using the CAW tool but I did not craft it. My partner Manu originally conceived this project as well as the idea for deco buildings. Since then, we have received help from others. TJ Streak has made many High Quality deco buildings that will be used in Manhattan, as well as elsewhere throughout the world. And HappyJme was kind enough to build a few homes for the city (They are some of the best builds in the world, in my opinion). It has been over a year since I joined this project, and my partner Manu has been working on it even longer! I try to be as detailed as possible without taking weeks to do each building (plus I'm only an average builder).
The deco buildings you see were made primarily by Manu and TJ Streak. They are low-resolution decorative buildings made from Microsoft Flight Simulator and Google Earth.

@ Eveline Did you have a previous version of this world installed? If so, please uninstall all versions of New York and clear your caches (google 'Delphy's Dashboard') and it'll do it for you :)
If you have never had any version of NY before, please try it on a fresh EA folder (where all your saves and mods are kept). To do this, simply remove your current EA folder from the Documents section of your computer, and launch your game. This will generate a new EA folder that you can try to install NY in. If this solution works for you, there is a conflict (conflicting custom content) in your original EA folder. Hope this works out for you. BTW, your english is pretty fluent.

There currently isn't one. It really is a matter of time. Manu needs to test it and make sure it's free of game-breaking bugs (freezes, for example) before it can be uploaded for you guys. He's got school and all that (and then the Holidays were just here) so I don't know when he'll be able to get to it. I certainly understand the impatience though and thank you for the flattering words
Just as a suggestion, what would you guys think about including the quintet from "How I Met Your Mother"? Of course Ted, Barney and all the others don´t exist but it would be really cool I think. I can even try to make them as sims (as much as my possibilities reach) if you want. =)
I remember long ago wanting to make the Barones and Heffernan's too (Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens, respectively) so I like the idea. I would only ask that you don't load them full of cc as I already have put a lot in the world and I want people with average to lower-end PC's to be able to comfortably run it. Also, if you could please make them as their on-air personas, rather than celebs in the world. That way, fans of the show will appreciate it and those who aren't fans won't be bothered by it (as they probably won't even realize it)
HEY HEY HEY I HAVE TOO ASK YOU SOMETHING!!! is there a mod that will let me move a household into the same apartment building but a different apartment (like for example, in the sims 2 apartment life it would allow up to 4 household in the apartment building, but in the sims 3, you can only put one) plz plz plz plz help me... i wanna fill this world up with a lot of sims and i would like to make use of the brownstones and other apartments, thnx!
@Anon Not really that I know of. Do you want to alternate between controlling families? Otherwise you could just merge households in edit town and if you want more than 8 sims just install Twallan's Portrait Panel
Another thing is that I obviously didn't furnish the hidden rooms so you will have to do all that stuff on your own first.
@Anon Then I can't really think of another way,but you could always make a suggestion to Twallan on his site.
One last thing I want to mention is that your plans could end up being pretty computer intensive (unless you only plan on doing this for the building you live in) so be careful that you don't end up getting memory crashes and the like
Ok I know this is probably a lot to ask but could there be more houses or something, like a lot of the houses on the city are deco... i was wondering if you could replace some of the deco homes with real homes so that NY could be a jungle of sims! again, i understand if you can't or don't want to do this, it's just that i can't really fit as much sims as i would like! thnx, i love this world!
oh and i understand if you want to make it computer friendly, but maybe there could be two versions, just one with some of the deco houses deleted and replaced with regular houses, and the other one would be the normal one.
That I do add more, it will be sparing. The only thing I want to do (if anything) is make the Queens suburbs more plentiful as well as touch up New Jersey and the nearby suburb neighborhood (maybe add a couple homes). The reason for the many decos is to prevent lag.
Also, I don't know how many sims you want to add but I wouldn't go over 150. This is plenty for a world to feel full, and anything more can seriously start to hamper performance.
Regarding your second comment, I don't have the computer for it even if I did want to do that. I do intend though to release the CAW files once I feel that it's complete (at least in my mind)

no, no, not 100 homes. I was saying that you shouldn't have more than 150 sims in your world at any one time. I don't know how many homes there are but I don't think I'll be doing too many more

Do you mean the .zip archive? Google a program called WinRar and download the one for your OS. Alternatively, you can download 7-zip. Either will do the job.
I don't have a mac so I can't be of too much help but install it the same way you've installed past downloads. For me, I double click on it or put it in my downloads folder.
I knopw new york has a lot of recording studios and I really think this would be and AWESOME thing to include in this world, although it is cc, it barely touches the game, if it even dooes which it should not, i didn't make it , but its really awesome so hopefully you can include a community lot that is a recording studio... anyways, here's the link http://www.aroundthesims3.com/objects/room_downtown_06.shtml :D cant wait to see it in the game... thanks for the world, it is truly amazing!!!
There actually is a recording studio in the world. I need to redownload the cc as the rigfix didn't fix the board, but yeah, it's in Brooklyn, next-door to a guitar store (via ani's shop mod)
Is there a save file i could use for this, i just reinstalled my sims 3 games and lost all my sim families and sims... including the lady gaga one i gave you :(, but at least you still have it!! :DDDDDD lol

Are you the anon who was gonna make Paris Hilton? I don't want to handcuff you or anything, but yeah if you could try to use as little as possible. I already put a bunch of CC in the world and I don't want the performance of the save-file to be impacted by a new influx of CC :)

I'd prefer to keep it with the standards of the world which are Late Night, Ambitions, and World Adventures. If you need a CC everyday or formal, that's okay.
Yeah, I don't know if you tried it out yet but lower Manhattan is pretty crowded. If you really feel that your version is lacking without them, You could try building them on the World Financial Centre lot
ummm in the queens area, it wont let me delete the deco houses and put empty lots instead... theres not that many homes around there (to me at least lol) so i would like to put more... but i can't, can you fix PLZZZZZZ!!!!
I don't think there's non-routing paint in that area, but I'll give it another look. After you delete the deco homes the routing doesn't get changed until the world loads again. So, delete the decos, save, quit, and load it again. You should now be able to place lots
When I delete the deco buildings I am unable to place a lot. I saved, quit, and loaded the game, but am still unable to place lots... please help. The world is AMAZING btw i love it :) in the final version will you put more apartments and houses where the deco buildings are?

There is an issue in this version where pedestrian sims sometimes get stuck on the Brooklyn Bridge. (it will be fixed in the upcoming version). Also, if your computer is not so powerful, you might want to try out the things in this link:
okay... i don't mean to be pushy but u said its now or never... well, this place absolutely need MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, u know.. that arena thingy... ReplyDeleteGive it a shot. I couldn't play LA either (CTD's) but this world was created with lower end machines in mind. It's for everybody!
My specs are very modest and I only have 3GB of RAM. My partner Manu only has 2 GB's and he can run it fine as well
BTW, you'll be happy to know that the final version will make use of your 'Shop' and 'Clothing Boutique' mods. Plenty of shops all around town

There currently isn't one. It really is a matter of time. Manu needs to test it and make sure it's free of game-breaking bugs (freezes, for example) before it can be uploaded for you guys. He's got school and all that (and then the Holidays were just here) so I don't know when he'll be able to get to it. I certainly understand the impatience though and thank you for the flattering words
Just as a suggestion, what would you guys think about including the quintet from "How I Met Your Mother"?

ReplyDeleteI remember long ago wanting to make the Barones and Heffernan's too (Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens, respectively) so I like the idea. I would only ask that you don't load them full of cc as I already have put a lot in the world and I want people with average to lower-end PC's to be able to comfortably run it. Also, if you could please make them as their on-air personas, rather than celebs in the world. That way, fans of the show will appreciate it and those who aren't fans won't be bothered by it (as they probably won't even realize it)
HEY HEY HEY I HAVE TOO ASK YOU SOMETHING!!! is there a mod that will let me move a household into the same apartment building but a different apartment (like for example, in the sims 2 apartment life it would allow up to 4 household in the apartment building, but in the sims 3, you can only put one) plz plz plz plz help me... i wanna fill this world up with a lot of sims and i would like to make use of the brownstones and other apartments, thnx!

ReplyDeleteNot really that I know of. Do you want to alternate between controlling families? Otherwise you could just merge households in edit town and if you want more than 8 sims just install Twallan's Portrait Panel
Another thing is that I obviously didn't furnish the hidden rooms so you will have to do all that stuff on your own first.
No, I don't really want to merge. and i wouldn't have a problem furnishing the apartment :D

One last thing I want to mention is that your plans could end up being pretty computer intensive (unless you only plan on doing this for the building you live in) so be careful that you don't end up getting memory crashes and the like

ReplyDeleteOk I know this is probably a lot to ask but could there be more houses or something, like a lot of the houses on the city are deco... i was wondering if you could replace some of the deco homes with real homes so that NY could be a jungle of sims! again, i understand if you can't or don't want to do this, it's just that i can't really fit as much sims as i would like! thnx, i love this world!
ReplyDeleteoh and i understand if you want to make it computer friendly, but maybe there could be two versions, just one with some of the deco houses deleted and replaced with regular houses, and the other one would be the normal one.
ReplyDeleteThat I do add more, it will be sparing. The only thing I want to do (if anything) is make the Queens suburbs more plentiful as well as touch up New Jersey and the nearby suburb neighborhood (maybe add a couple homes). The reason for the many decos is to prevent lag.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't know how many sims you want to add but I wouldn't go over 150. This is plenty for a world to feel full, and anything more can seriously start to hamper performance.
Regarding your second comment, I don't have the computer for it even if I did want to do that. I do intend though to release the CAW files once I feel that it's complete (at least in my mind)

ReplyDeleteDo you mean the .zip archive? Google a program called WinRar and download the one for your OS. Alternatively, you can download 7-zip. Either will do the job.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a mac so I can't be of too much help but install it the same way you've installed past downloads. For me, I double click on it or put it in my downloads folder.

ReplyDeleteThere actually is a recording studio in the world. I need to redownload the cc as the rigfix didn't fix the board, but yeah, it's in Brooklyn, next-door to a guitar store (via ani's shop mod)

Deleteummm in the queens area, it wont let me delete the deco houses and put empty lots instead... theres not that many homes around there (to me at least lol) so i would like to put more... but i can't, can you fix PLZZZZZZ!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think there's non-routing paint in that area, but I'll give it another look. After you delete the deco homes the routing doesn't get changed until the world loads again. So, delete the decos, save, quit, and load it again. You should now be able to place lots

ReplyDeleteThere is an issue in this version where pedestrian sims sometimes get stuck on the Brooklyn Bridge. (it will be fixed in the upcoming version). Also, if your computer is not so powerful, you might want to try out the things in this link:
